Matching Funds from Thrivent

We have been blessed to be selected to be one of the few churches in this area to participate in a pilot program being offered by Thrivent. Thrivent will match 5% of each Thrivent member's annual giving (up to contributions of $10,000) to all funds at OSLC. Even members who have already participated in the Open Arms or Katrina matching funds programs may participate. The good news is that this program has already begun, starting in October. Even better news - it is not too late to make your contributions count. Thrivent will match contributions this last quarter of 2005 and each quarter in 2006. But in order to make your contributions count you need to fill out one of the "Member Match Enrollment Forms" available in "The Way". After you have filled out the form once, you never need to fill it out again. And you don't need to figure out your contributions; our financial secretary, Deb Kopitskie, will take care of all of that. But you do need to fill out that form by the beginning of December so that your contributions count for this quarter as well as next year. After you have filled out the form, you can put it in the offering plate, put it in the financial secretary mail box, or mail it back to the church. Since Thrivent is allowing us to use those matching funds anyway we please, this is a fantastic opportunity to make your contributions count even more. What a blessing!! Thrivent Financial for Lutherans Giving Plus Program

Thrivent Financial for Lutherans is generously matching contributions by members to our Open Arms Christian Child Development Center. Each individual Thrivent member(husband, wife, or adult child over 16) can donate up to $600.00 and Thrivent will match up to $300.00. If you are not a Thrivent member, your family can join for $10.00 and each adult member of your family can make a contribution. Also, if you have donated more that 25 hours of service to Open Arms through work days, committee work, fundraising, etc., Thrivent will contribute another $50.00. Just fill in the appropriate spot on the form for these additional funds for volunteers.

Matching funds forms are available in the lobby. Your check made payable to Open Arms, along with the matching gift form, may be placed in the offering plate or given to Kirk Rittenhouse. If you are not yet at Thrivent member, membership forms are also available in the lobby.

You may also make a second contribution each calendar year to another eligible Lutheran organization through Giving Plus. Contributions to aid hurricane victims or Habitat for Humanity can be made in addition to contributions to two other Lutheran organizations.

Please remember that you may make a maximum contribution in 2006 that will be matched. This applies also to the Thrivent pilot program where Thrivent is matching contributions to the General Fund.
